DMV Man! Did he have the right to do this?!?
Tuesday, November 1st, 2011Question by 348rjerwkljw: DMV Man! Did he have the right to do this?!?
I don’t drive at all. I never had a license! My ID expired last month and I’ve been busy and finally had the free time to get a chance to get to the DMV to get an updated one. I also moved! So I bought my old id, social security card, and last TWO pay stubs with new address and a bill with my new address on it.
I waited 40 minutes to finally be called and I reached the counter and the guy on the other side looks at it, and says it expired last month. I said, I know. I give him everything he need to show proof I moved to a newer address. He says:
“Sorry, this won’t do.” With a smirk on his face!
I said, “Why? This has all the proof!”
He says, “I need to see your passport.”
I said, “I am a American BORN citizen! What passport?!”
He then says, “Then I need to see your birth certificate.”
I said, “Are you kidding me? I should be in YOUR computer!”
He looks at the computer and smiles and says, “Nope. I need your birth certificate.”
I blew up and walked out! NOW I need to go back Tuesday and bring in my birth certificate!
BY law do I need to even show that???

Yes. Anytime you let your license or ID lapse you have to show birth certificate to renew
